Nobody knows the age of the human race, but many can agree that it is old enough to 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫!
I’ve been reflecting a lot about the intensified division and racial tension in most of the Western world. Racism is kept alive by politicians, media and individuals who lack empathy or full understanding of the importance of equality. It’s taught in our society. Even research confirms that no one is born hating another person because of the color of their skin.
Now more than ever, I find myself constantly fighting emotions of bitterness resulting from a lot of hurt and discrimination I have personally experience during my life as well as the ignorance and hatred that I recently faced during the latest #BlackLivesmatter movement. I have had to make my greatest effort to encounter hatred with love. In practice, that has meant responding to untruthful accusations with kindness and compassion.
Through it all, I’m learning to accept that in this world there will always be sadness and negativity, yet so much goodness as well as. I can choose to focus on the negative and be completely consumed or instead embrace the positive and thrive. I choose to thrive. My choice is love.
