”Stop explaining yourself and telling people everything. You owe no one any explanation of what you do. Your life is yours, not theirs.” (Uknown)
Today I realize that even though culture and nationality play big roles in forming a person’s identity, they only make up for a fraction of an entirety. Identity is fluid and rich. It’s shaped by experiences, memories, relationships and values.
My current home away from home is Sweden. Moving here really prompted me to reflect and realize the strength and advantage of being an interesting individual with an open mind and broad worldview. I do and create from the things that feel right at a given time. I’m not apologetic for not meeting rigid norms or stereotypes. It obviously makes life easier to have cosy definitions but life is just too complex for that and so am I.
