How 24 hours in Österlen helped me reconnect to nature and to myself.
I believe one of the clear signs of me aging is the feeling of appreciating nature in a completely different way than I did even 5 years ago. My ideal getaway between the age of 15-25 was to a busy city exploring coffee shops, spending my saved up pennies on clothes and the more people and loud noise, the better. The extrovert in me had a field day during all these trips and couldn’t wait to plan the next experience away from home.
Now, at 27 I value my home more than anything and my idea of a perfect getaway involves next to no people ( barr people I actually know), simplicity, a lot of nature and most importantly – stillness.
The 18 year old in me would die from reading this ; 27 and craving stillness ? Que?
It is no secret that the past year has been a real challenge for me in many ways and this craving to return to simplicity, stillness and sometimes also loneliness might have to do with the fact that it is in those moments I feel truly connected to myself.
Whatever that means.
So I was very happy that my dear friend, colleague and spirit animal Nathalie invited me to visit a beautiful B&B farm out in Österlen a couple of weeks ago. The purpose of the getaway was a break from the hustle and bustle, meeting a medium from Lapland and just get a little bit deeper into the spiritual work I am currently doing.
1 hour drive from Malmö, you will find Logi Gamlegård – a place run by Gitte Harbo and her lovely mother. When we arrived Gitte and her gorgeous little son greeted us by the parking lot and you know when you meet someone and immediately get the feeling that the person is incredibly kind? Well, you will get that with Gitte and her entire family.
Nathalie had brought some cheese and other goodies for us to enjoy on our room after our Jacuzzi-session, which we enjoyed during sunset with a glass of beautiful local apple cider. Honestly, having the gorgeous Skåne-landscape (area in southern Sweden) surrounding us whilst talking about life, dreams and plans with Nathalie only added to the immense feeling of gratitude over having such kind and clever women in my life.
The following morning we got to pick up our own little breakfast hamper and bring it to our room. It set us off on a pretty good start to yet another day in this gorgeous location.
If you are looking for a place to spend a night or two close to nature, away from the hustle and bustle – I recommend checking in at Logi Gamlegård for some peace and quiet.
